I've been painting my profile image for years, and I find it to be a really cathartic experience looking back on how I saw myself through my own art. I'm pretty photogenic so I never shy away from a camera but painting my profile image made me face my own insecurities.

When you paint your own portrait you find your self questioning how you want others to see you. But once you peel that layer, a more important question arises, how do you want to see yourself. And peeling away that layer leads you to honestly look at the human you are.
