The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

In February 2020 I decided to take a huge step and enroll in the Oatley Academy mentorship program. This mentorship has tested me as a person and artist, I learned so much and most importantly learned how to improve and create without hesitation. Also, I learned how to trust in my own process and unlocked skills I wasn't even aware of.

The piece was inspired by the iconic book 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' by L. Frank Baum. Character design as well as environment design was done by Chris Oatley and Justin Rodrigues. The composition and painting was done by me.

My first attempt was underwhelming to say the least, but once I went through the mentorship and course I knew I had to take another stab at it and test my new found skills. The improvement is more than noticeable. and thanks to my mentor who taught me that my greatest trait was my dedication I was able to create something pretty cool. I huge thank you to my mentor Chris Oatley and all my peers that I have met along the way who's support and feedback has meant the world to me.
